Comparison: Do You Know The Difference? Congratulations, you have made it to the comparison chapter. In this chapter you will learn everything about hockey and the differences of Kid’s hockey and professional hockey. In kids hockey the offsides is where the puck must go over the other team’s blue line before the player does. The ice is about 30-50 feet smaller than NHL’s ice for kids because they can not skate that long. In kids hockey checking is not allowed because most kids are not strong enough to take a hit. ): ): ): (Checking is when someone runs into someone else on purpose.) A kids travel team must have less than 17 people and 1 person will get cut from the team. In NHL hockey there can be as much as 21 players! There is also an announcer to announce each player before each game. The announcer will talk on the TV saying who has the puck and what they are doing with it. Also the other team's coach can challenge a goal if he think it’s offsides of goalie interference. Also in NHL hockey the players do not have to have a cage on the helmet, but they do have to have a visor on the helmet at least to protect their eyes. But if you're in the NHL and you get a concussion you have to wear a cage until the concussion heals. NHL hockey is also way way way way way more aggressive than kids hockey because they are allowed to check! Like the Red Wings, NHL teams have their own specific rink just for their team. Their are lots of similarities and differences in Kids Hockey and Professional Hockey but guess what, the game was made for everyone! Do you know the difference? In this Chapter you will learn all of the similarities and differences between 2 professional NHL hockey players. The 2 players I will be talking about are Dylan Larkin and Sidney Crosby. First off Dylan Larkin is number 71 and plays forward for the Detroit Red Wings. Sidney Crosby is number 87 and plays on the Pittsburgh Penguins. In fact another difference is that Sidney Crosby and his team actually won the Stanley Cup last season. Another similarity is that they both play for the NHL and are both under 30 years old. Unfortunately another sad difference is that Sidney Crosby and his team are in the playoffs for the Stanley Cup in the year of 2017 (We really wanted the Red Wings to be in the playoffs, especially since it was the last year at the Joe). Dylan Larkin and his team did not make it to the playoffs in 2017! ): ): ): ): Also this is Dylan’s second year playing professional hockey but he did play for Michigan Hockey, USA Hockey, and now NHL Hockey for the Detroit Red Wings! But Sidney Crosby has played Hockey for 10 Years for the NHL.
