Sequence Chapter: Positions |
|
Equipment is not the only thing you will need to play Hockey. You will also need to know your positions. Like Forward are Centerman and Wingerman. Or maybe the Defenseman and Goalie! Forward: The forwards are three people that are always up the play. They are normally scoring all the goals in the game. The forwards stay up the ice getting open for a pass. Centerman: The Centerman is part of the forwards group. The Centerman is usually the player to take the puck drop. The center scores the majority of the goals because the center always has to stay moving and always has to be open for a pass. Wingerman: The wingers are also a part of the forwards group. The two wingers stay on the boards either catching a pass, or passing the pass. The wingers help the center score all the goals. Defenseman: The defenseman help out the forwards by passing the puck up the ice and help the goalie by stopping the other team from taking a shot. I have now played defense for a few years now and I just have to say that I love it and I think you will too! Goalie: The goalie protects the net. The goalie will make as much saves as it can to help out it’s team. The goalie is first protected by the forwards, but when the other team gets the puck passed the forwards it’s up to the defense! The goalie is very lucky to be protected by all of these people!!! So all together, everyone has an important job on the ice!!!!!! (: (: (: (: (: Stretching You will also want to stretch before and after a game. You First, might want to do some lunges.(A type of stretch where you bend 1 leg in front but don’t let it touch the ground and push your other leg back as far as you can but also don’t let it touch the ground!) Second, you are going to take a jog. You have to make sure you are jogging and NOT RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!! Third, you are going to want to do high knees.(Bend 1 leg at a time and bring your knee as high as you can get it!) If you want you could do more stretches but remember… don’t lose all your energy!!!! (: (: (: (: (: How To Play The Game! As soon as the puck is dropped, it is the forwards job to get the puck up the ice. The forwards must make sure that they get the puck gets past the other team’s blue line to get a goal. Up the ice, there will be players on the other team to try to stop them! The blue line will tell the referees if the play was offsides. For the play to be onsides the puck must go over the blue line before the player does. It is the defensemans job to make sure the other team does not get a shot on their goalie and that they keep the puck in the other team’s zone. So back to the beginning when the puck is dropped the defense must help the forwards get the puck up the ice and to the other team’s net. The object of the game is to… Stay onsides for a goal, Score as much goals as you can, and end the game with the most goals! |
